Tape Waves Sells Out, Goes Plastic
You may be kicking yourself for missing out on scoring a copy of new Charleston-based act Tape Waves’ sold-out debut four-song 7-inch, which included a double sided-insert and envelope containing a download code, a color-by-numbers postcard, confetti, and a mini-scented note pad. According to U.K.-based Bedroom Box Rebels, the highly anticipated underground vinyl EP, limited to 100, sold out within a week and is the quickest selling release in the label’s history. Well, time to bust out the Walkman and get your trigger finger ready.
The London label Beautiful Strange just announced that it will release the duo’s dreamy four-song debut on 100 limited-edition blue cassettes on September 7 to coincide with Cassette Store Day (yes, that’s a thing). You can preorder the cassette now on the label’s website, which includes an immediate download of the four-track as a high-quality mp3. You can also download the four-song EP sans anything physical on Tape Waves’ Bandcamp. Myself, I may just hold out for the inevitable 8-track release. They’re coming back, y’all… aeeeny day now.
Metronome Charleston discussed the new Tapes Waves recordings with bandmates Kim Hart and Jarod Weldin earlier this summer. Click here for the full story.
