The Avett Brothers Guide ‘Legendary Giveback’ to Town

Tickets are still available for the Avett Brothers’ “Legendary Giveback II” fundraiser concert scheduled for Thurs. Nov. 14 at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Banjoist/singer Scott Avett, guitarist/singer Seth Avett, standup bassist/singer Bob Crawford, and cellist Joe Kwon will perform with a full band at the venue in support of their new studio collection Magpie and the Dandelion (American Recordings). Produced by studio veteran Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty), the N.C.-based band’s 11-song album features a mix of the group’s traditional acoustic folk and Americana stylings with pop and roots-rock-oriented instrumentation and production.

This week’s show at the Coliseum is the second annual concert co-sponsored by Cheerwine, a soft drink brand based in Salisbury, N.C., near the band’s hometown of Concord. Produced by the Carolina Beverage Corporation, Cheerwine is still owned and managed by the same family that founded it in 1917.

“The response from our fans last year was both humbling and gratifying,” Scott Avett says in a recent press release. “We’re grateful that Cheerwine is committed to raising more funds for the families that this year’s concert benefits.”

To promote Legendary Giveback II, Cheerwine placed six specially designed “hidden cans” inside select 12-packs throughout the Southeast. The customers who find the cans will win a $500 donation towards the charity of their choice, tickets to the “Legendary Giveback II” concert, and a year-supply of Cheerwine.

Proceeds from the Legendary Giveback II’s sales will aid three family-focused organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Operation Homefront, and the Children’s Hospital of South Carolina at MUSC, which offers medical resources to children across the region.
